Letter from the Executive Director

Welcome to the official website of YMUNI 2019! The Yale Model United Nations Institute is a constituent program of the Yale International Relations Association (YIRA). YIRA is known for running some of the world’s largest and best high school Model United Nations conferences -- from New Haven to China to Taipei to Seoul to Budapest. Over the course of our history, we have educated thousands of students from around the world in international relations, and we are continually seeking to expand our educational impact. YMUNI is an integral part of YIRA’s expansive work as the largest organization on Yale’s campus, and we are so excited to introduce you to all that YMUNI is.

YMUNI serves as YIRA’s premier summer program about international relations, leadership, public-speaking, diplomacy, and Model United Nations right here at Yale. The program is entirely designed and run by Yale students themselves, who are all deeply committed to studying our world, educating younger generations of scholars, and spreading the powerful learning tool that is Model United Nations. YMUNI will consist of phenomenal guest speakers, workshops/simulations, mentorship, writing activities, and community-building exercises. Students can expect to leave the program with greater confidence, Model UN/public speaking ability, and a new diverse community to support them in all their future endeavors.

We invite you to apply to be a part of YMUNI 2019 on Yale’s campus this August (August 3-8). If you’re interested in YMUNI 2019, email ymuni@yira.org with the subject “YMUNI 2019.” We look forward to learning about the world, experiencing Yale, and polishing our leadership/public-speaking skills with you this summer.

Best,
Farah Emory-Muhammad
Executive Director, YMUNI 2019
